About this Event
Trauma awareness is growing but as an emerging field of study and practice, society is still learning how to address the needs of those impacted by adversity in ways that are personally and situationally responsive and without inadvertently causing harm. Scaling up our efforts to buffer each other, courageously call out harm, and heal in culturally sensitive ways, nurtures community resilience in ways that doesn’t stigmatise individuals. This event will launch a new trauma attuned arts framework co-created by a team of artists, practitioners and academics from across the UK and Ukraine. It has been developed by celebrating real world examples from across different settings and genres; and by critically analysing our own practice. It offers a structure for personal growth, developing projects, and leading for change. It helps articulate in personal ways, what trauma attuned arts projects may be hoping to achieve and how they can meet their goals for all communities and cultures.
- Experience directly how the arts and music can provoke personal or collective healing
- Receive an electronic copy of the framework for free.
- Hear about the kind of work that shaped its development
It will be a day of imagination, connection and hope. An attempt to articulate the intangible humanity of the arts into an intellectual "Framework".
The team that developed the Framework include:- Dr Angela Kennedy, Innovating for Well Being, UK, Professor Nigel Osborne, Scotland, Veronika Skliarova, Art Dot, Ukraine, Darren Abrahams, One World Orchestra, UK and Dr Henry Redwood, Kings College London with Tina Ellen Lee Opera Circus, UK.
We will provide tea, coffee and biscuits. Bring something for lunch as there aren't many places to buy food in the area.
