About this Event
As a sex therapist, I am constantly working with individuals who are dealing with one form of shame or another. One thing remains consistent: no one enjoys being a victim of shame, even when it is self-inflicted.
However, something equally troubling persists: people permit shame because of the intrinsic benefits they believe it offers, even when they are unaware of them.
Is there a biblical way to shame someone or to deliver them from shame? Is there a way to control these experiences? Find out in this episode of Trauma and Theology.
Why Me?
I am Liza Chuma Akunyili, a therapist and wellness business strategist with over twelve years of experience as a creative writer. Throughout my years of practice, every problem my clients have brought to me has contained some element of shame.
In 2020, I began a podcast called Diary of a Sex Therapist, and it was the first time I realised that even I could feel ashamed of healing and growing into myself. I would record episodes and hide them, fearful of being perceived as too loud. Fast forward to 2023, that podcast became , and now, I must confront shame not only with my clients or a few friends at church but also with those who dare to slide into my DMs.
This series is private for a reason, so don’t miss out. I will be combining the wisdom of the Bible with my education as a therapist, my personal experiences, and my professional observations in this series.
