💧 About the film
Jo in the Water follows passionate sea swimmer turned reluctant activist Jo Bateman as she takes on one of the UK’s biggest water companies in a real-life David-and-Goliath battle to defend our rivers, lakes and seas from devastating sewage pollution.
As Jo’s determination sparks a growing movement, the film lays bare the shocking state of the UK’s water system — and asks a vital question:
Who will stand up for our right to swim in clean, safe waters?
This feature-length documentary goes beyond pollution. It’s about connection — to nature, to place, and to our shared responsibility to protect the ecosystems and communities that depend on clean water.
🌊 Why this film matters
Across the UK, outrage is growing over sewage discharges into our waterways. Jo in the Water captures this moment with urgency and heart — showing how ordinary people can create extraordinary change.
