About this Event
Understanding Minds, Transforming Care: A Mental Health and Neurodiversity Conference
NAMI Minnesota, Southwest Minnesota State University, and Prairie Winds Counseling, Inc. are proud to host Understanding Minds, Transforming Care: A Mental Health and Neurodiversity Conference.
Join us for a day of learning through informative sessions that increase empathy and understanding, spotlight available services, address common barriers to quality care, and explore skill-building. This conference is open to anyone interested in becoming more responsive to the needs of neurodivergent adults with co-occurring mental illnesses, especially those providing mental and physical health care or direct services.
Neurodivergent adults face poorer health outcomes and lower quality healthcare. A lack of understanding, compassion, and skills contributes to the barriers reported by neurodivergent adults. This includes physical and mental healthcare and related direct services utilized by these individuals. The co-occurrence of mental illnesses and mental health challenges in neurodivergent adults is also common, but diagnoses are often confused, symptoms are often misunderstood, and negative attitudes persist.
This event has been approved for 3 CEUs by the Minnesota Board of Social Work.
