Poetic, unorthodox, and experimental — “Transformations” is a bold opera presented in fairytale-like story fragments and we can’t wait to share its ✨magic✨ with you! This work stunned audiences when it premiered here in the Twin Cities in 1973 and heralded a new age of opera that leaned into the disparate styles of jazz, classical, and popular music. Composer Conrad Susa drew inspiration for this work from the confessional and intimate poetry of Anne Sexton, who authored a book by the same name. Note: While exploring the darker sides of human nature, this production may not be appropriate for audience members under the age of 18. This opera contains sexual language and references to sexual assault and incest. When: Sunday, November 24, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.
