About this Event

Transformation Through Enneagram & Breath
Co-led by John Luckovich & Kathy McDonald

April 10–12, 2026 | New York City
Fri 7–10pm | Sat 11am–10pm | Sun 11am–6pm (Eastern Time)
Center for Creative Studies

This retreat was created in response to a quiet but widespread need: a space where grief, trauma, and life change can be met with presence rather than pressure—where nothing needs to be rushed, fixed, or explained away.

Drawing on the Carl Jung concept of the “Underworld” journey, this experience recognizes that periods of loss and upheaval are not detours, but essential processes of transformation. When familiar ways of coping fall away, deeper layers emerge—offering the possibility for integration, clarity, and renewal.

This three-day immersive retreat explores grief, trauma, and personality patterns through the Enneagram and Breathwork. Together, these practices support participants in gently meeting what has been held in the body, softening habitual defenses, and allowing space for release, insight, and reconnection.

Grief is not limited to bereavement. Many forms of loss—identity shifts, relational rupture, or unacknowledged (disenfranchised) grief—often go unsupported. This retreat exists to restore space for these experiences to be witnessed and integrated.

Participants will be guided through breathwork, somatic awareness, reflection, and teaching—all within a trauma-aware, choice-centered environment. The focus is not on intensity, but on safety, pacing, and building capacity for inner work.

This retreat is for those who may be experiencing:

  • Grief, loss, or major life transitions
  • Emotional overwhelm, disconnection, or feeling “stuck”
  • A desire for deeper self-understanding and embodied healing

Some familiarity with the Enneagram is recommended, though no prior breathwork experience is required.

This retreat may not be suitable for those seeking high-intensity catharsis without support, or those in acute psychiatric crisis. Breathwork is not a substitute for therapy or medical care, but may complement ongoing support.

Additional details (location, preparation, what to bring) will be shared upon registration.

If you have questions or would like to ensure this space is a good fit, you are warmly invited to reach out to Kathy at [email protected].

About the Facilitators

John Luckovich is an Enneagram teacher, counselor, and breathwork practitioner known for his work with instinctual patterns and the unconscious. He is the author of The Instinctual Drives and the Enneagram, co-host of The Big Hormone Enneagram Podcast, and co-founder of The Enneagram School and New York Enneagram.

Kathy McDonald is a student of the Enneagram, breathwork, and the Diamond Heart approach. After a 35-year career in medical operations, her own experiences of grief and trauma led her toward a more embodied path of healing. She is currently training as a breathwork facilitator and grief counselor, devoted to supporting others in reconnecting with the wisdom of the body and breath.
