About this Event
Come as you are, and let's learn together!
Are you an ally, friend, or family member of a trans person? Have you ever wondered what it mean to be trans? What’s up with pronouns? How can I ask questions without being offensive?
Look no further than our Trans 101 Forum on understanding the trans experience. Vivian Asztalos will present on all these questions and any you might have as well. After a short presentation, we will have small group work and facilitated discussion. All are welcome to join at 6 PM for dinner with the presentation beginning at 6:45 PM.
Hosted by Vivian Asztalos

Vivian Asztalos was born and raised in Illinois and graduated from DePaul University in 2016. She has loved living in Southeast Michigan since. Raised Catholic, Viv joined the Episcopal church in 2019 and has found a home at Christ Church Cranbrook, first as a parishioner and now as our Welcome and Engagement Coordinator. She also serves as the Program Manager for the Institute for Advanced Pastoral Studies and as a Safe Church trainer for the Episcopal Diocese of Michigan.
Her previous work was as a deputy canvass manager and then as a guest teacher within the public school system. Viv is passionate about making strangers into friends, forging connections between groups and individuals, and bringing people together. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, painting, and time outdoors with family.
Her work in activism, education, and organizing is fueled by a deep commitment to raising voices otherwise unheard, demystifying the experiences and stories of disperate communities, and breaking jargon and technical speech into words we can all understand.
This forum is the perfect chance to hear about the experiences of a trans person and have your questions answered in language that is inclusive to every level of understanding and prior knowledge.
