LET'S GET BAT SH*T CRAZY!!!

Join us on the 13 Dec 2024 at our favorite playground, iKi Singapore, for our final TRANCE4M International instalment of 2024, as the legendary John Askew returns to Singapore, with an Open-to-Close Journey!

So... WHO THE HELL is John Askew:

Having gained recognition with his debut single "Vellum" back in 2001, John has since been a highly sought after tech-trance artist in the scene. John began his musical career in rock bands but shifted to electronic music after attending a rave in Cornwall in 1993. He made his club debut in 1994 at a notorious Acid House venue in North London and soon became a resident DJ for the “Code Red” sound system in Wiltshire, attracting thousands of underground fans. His sound blended melodic German trance with harder percussive elements.

Over three decades, John Askew has become a prominent tech-trance producer and DJ, known for his energetic performances and as a rare DJ to record an Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1. He has released numerous hits, remixes, and albums through top labels like Armin van Buuren's Armada, Aly & Fila's Future Sound Of Egypt, John O'Callaghan's Subculture, and many more.

In 2000, John embarked on a touring residency with Universe alongside renowned DJs like Carl Cox, Carl Cox, Timo Maas, Danny Rampling, Danny Howells, Way Out West and John "00" Fleming. Later the same year, he also performed on the main stage at the Ministry of Sound's millennium event at the Dome on New Year's Eve, captivating 26,000 attendees with his technical skills and culminating in a two-year residency at the Ministry of Sound in London, where John became known for his legendary closing sets in the main room.

In 2021, John released his 13th mix compilation, Dusk Till Dawn, which topped the Beatport main album chart for five weeks, outperforming all trance, house and techno albums during that time. This success highlights the significant impact and popularity of his work and the VII label.

Being the founder and head honcho of VII, which showcases innovative trance music from various artists signed to it (Simon Patterson, Will Atkinson, HIMSELF, AA Meeting, Greg Downey, Orkidea and Activa, and NIFRA recently joined the lineup), John has been influential and dominant in the underground electronic scene, being one of the main stakeholders in the scene.

In fast forward mode John Askew has been conquering dance floors all around the world. John has played at high profile clubs nights, such as Cream, Plus Soda, Meganite, Slinky, Godskitchen, After Hour Power, and Passion as well as at prestigious festivals, e.g. Homelands (Radio One Stage), Luminosity Beach Festival, A State of Trance, UnKonscious Music Festival, and Creamfields. His DJ sets reflect his highly opinionated views on music, with an ear for high quality music. Unlike the obvious anthemetic route, his take is subtle, yet with highly emotive melodies, derived from years of song writing in a plethora of rock bands, making each and every one of John’s sets unique.

Just a few days ago on 27th of September marks the release of John's much-awaited studio album "A Room Full of Pros and Cons", packed with a wide array of tracks and featuring collaborations with rising stars of the likes of Lyonheart, Shelby Merry, Manika Kaur, and SinfulBiz.
