About this Event
The Family Justice Center of Alamance County is hosting the National Family Justice Center Alliance Institute on Strangulation Prevention for a 2-day training on March 31st-April 1st 2026 from 8am-5pm both days. Training is limited to Alamance County partners.
This is a great training opportunity for all first responders: law enforcement, EMS, social workers, victim advocates as well as professionals in the courts system and the medical field.
Agenda includes:
- Strangulation in the Context of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault
- Understanding the Lethality of Strangulation
- Medical Science of Strangulation
- Forensic Documentation
- Working with Traumatized Victims
- Police Investigations
- Prosecution of Non-Fatal Strangulation Cases
- Use of Experts to Help Judges and Jurors Understand Victim Behavior & the Lethality of Non-Fatal Strangulation
- The Science of HOPE
- Best Practices & Developing a Coordinated Plan for Alamance County
