The Community People FREE training session will be led by experienced youth worker, trainer and facilitator Michelle Old from Conversations that Create Change.
What to expect
This interactive and engaging day is designed to build confidence, deepen understanding, and strengthen your practice when working with young people.
You’ll take part in a supportive, participatory space where you can explore real experiences, share learning, and develop practical tools you can use straight away.
This session provides a rich introduction to key areas of youth work practice, offering practical tools, fresh insights, and clear next steps for continued learning.
Together, we’ll explore
- Building trust and meaningful relationships with young people
- Understanding behaviour, developmental needs, and the realities young people are facing
- Key principles of trauma-informed practice and SEND awareness
- Strengthening communication and relational skills
- Embedding co-production and youth voice in your sessions and programmes
How you’ll learn
The day will be highly participatory, using:
- Real-life scenarios
- Case studies
- Group discussions
- Video and reflective activities
You’ll also have the opportunity to learn alongside others, share experiences, and build peer connections throughout the day.
By the end of the session, you’ll feel more:
- Confident in your youth work practice
- Equipped with practical tools and approaches
- Reflective in how you engage and support young people
