About this Event
Are you struggling to understand the difference between users and roles? Are policies something you’d like to know more about? During this half-day workshop, we will help you understand the IAM service better. Working in the console and on the AWS CLI, you will learn why you should lock away the root account and how to create and use users, groups and roles.
Knowledge you will take away:
- What the IAM dashboard shows and how to secure it.
- The format of a policy and how policies are evaluated.
- How to create a user, group, role and policy.
- How to assume a role using the AWS CLI.
- Create granular permissions in policies.
Who should attend?
Anyone who would like a basic but strong understanding of IAM. Software Developers, DevOps Engineers, Systems Admins, Infrastructure Engineers.
If you don’t have any experience with AWS don’t worry, we’ll introduce you to the basics and demonstrate the skills you will need to get up and running with AWS IAM.
Prerequisites
You will need to be able to install and manage the following software on your device:
- AWS CLI
- Authy/Other MFA Application
A final few things:
- You can prepare for the session by installing the AWS CLI and Authy.
- Access to an AWS account will be provided.
