In Montclair’s early days, Watchung Avenue divided the Dutch farms of Speertown from the English farms of Cranetown. That rural landscape changed dramatically in the late 1800s with the arrival of the railroad to Montclair. With new rail access to New York City, farms gave way to business districts and commuter neighborhoods built around the stations. Join us for a talk in partnership with The Judy Weston Gardens and discover how the railroad helped build modern Montclair and its effects on the Watchung Park and Plaza. This is a free program. Registration required at the attached link.
