This 4-hour Train-the-Trainer workshop equips birthworkers, doulas, and maternal health professionals with the knowledge and tools to educate families on preventing pediatric traumatic brain injuries (TBI) — one of the most preventable yet devastating early childhood injuries.
Led by prevention experts from Shaken Baby Alliance, this training session will cover:
- The realities and risks of pediatric traumatic brain injury
- How to effectively teach families about coping with infant crying
- The latest trauma-informed approaches in parent education
- Tools to recognize and prevent pediatric TBI in your community

Our "Train the Trainer" program is a comprehensive and dynamic four-hour training session designed to empower participants with essential knowledge and skills to prevent shaken baby syndrome and other forms of child physical abuse and violence. This engaging training contains two main segments, each offering valuable insights and practical strategies:
Part 1: Medical Aspects of Shaken Baby Syndrome
Explore the medical aspects of Shaken Baby Syndrome (SBS) in interactive discussions led by our expert trainers. Gain a thorough understanding of the causes, symptoms, and long-term consequences of SBS, as well as the latest research and advancements in prevention.
Part 2: Implementing the "When Babies Cry... We C.O.P.E." and "When Life Happens... We C.O.P.E." Prevention Program
Explore the key risk factors at the individual, familial, and community levels associated with higher incidences of Shaken Baby Syndrome and other forms of child abuse. Learn practical, evidence-based strategies to support parents, students, community members, and professionals in understanding infant crying and effectively managing stressors using the C.O.P.E. strategy. By learning to C.O.P.E. with stressors, we aim to reduce the occurrences of child abuse and violence significantly.
By the end of our "Train the Trainer" program, you will be well-prepared to educate and inspire others to prevent Shaken Baby Syndrome, child physical abuse, and violence while fostering safer and healthier environments for children and their families.
