This event is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is not required. Hikes begin at 8:30 am.Our first hike is designed for girls registered for Day Camp at Hidden Valley and their families. It is a great opportunity to learn what to expect at Camp—fun, informative, and especially helpful for parents who want a preview of the experience.
Our second hike is open to everyone who would enjoy a relaxed walk through native woodland. We will focus on identifying native plants and spotting local birds, all right here in the heart of Lawrence.
Please dress appropriately for the season, keeping in mind ticks, mosquitos, chiggers, and bring your own water bottle. Wear closed toed shoes. For safety and preservation of wildlife, no unaccompanied minors, no dogs are allowed on these hikes unless they are certified service animals. Strollers are not recommended on our wilderness trails; however, all ages are welcome if little ones can be carried or if you have an all terrain stroller. You will be asked to sign an Assumption of Risk form
