Drop in Volunteer opportunity for individuals OR groups! (If bringing a group, let us know ahead of time so we can have special projects lined up! [email protected] )Each month we work to clear trails and space at one of the four Oshtemo parks. April's park is the Oshtemo Township Park, near 9th Street and West Main, between the Lilian Anderson Arboretum and the Oshtemo Public Library.
We'll be focusing on a patch of honeysuckle obscuring the basketball courts from the walking trail.
Learn more about invasive honeysuckle here: https://www.mtu.edu/kisma/terrestrial-invasive-species/invasive-honeysuckle/
(If you REALLY want to learn about Honeysuckle Management, there's a webinar happening July 15: https://facebook.com/events/s/webinar-practical-approaches-t/805113595515897/ )
Two work dates are on the calendar for this park:
Friday April 10 from 10:00am - 12:00pm
Friday April 24 from 10:00am - 12:00pm
And then we move to our next park!
It's a great opportunity to meet other people, and participants often come away with expanded knowledge from the conversations with their new friends! A small amount of cutting tools are available to borrow, but feel free to bring your own. And feel free to bring a lunch, too. It's nice to stay after and chat.
See you at the Oshtemo Rotarty Pavilion at 10:00am!
