(Traditional) Building Skills for Ages 16-24 - STONEMASONRY

Try your hand at carving and dressing stone with hammer and chisel in this 2-day workshop.
About this Event

In this 2-day workshop you will concentrate on hand skills with hammers and chisels with the guidance of stonemasons, Innes Campbell and Sebastian Freudenthal at the beautiful Darnaway Estate.
Day One
- a demonstration and practice in cutting a mitre on a block by hand
- practice traditional surface finishes
- carve into stone a symbol, drawing or letter of your choice
Day Two
- complete with your project from Day One
- more demonstrations and practice with hammers and chisels
There is no charge. Transport, lunch and safety gear provided (ear and eye protection, face masks, gloves, steel-toed shoe covers. Wear steel-toed boots if you have them.
For transport to Darnaway, arrive by 9:30 AM at the Forres Community Allotments on Bogton Road in Forres, IV36 3TW (formerly Transition Town). We will arrive back at Bogton Rd close to 4PM.
