Leslie Kemp Poole, author and associate professor of environmental studies at Rollins College, is presenting for Orange Audubon this year! She will share with us stories of well-known explorers and travelers who came to Florida from colonial times to the 20th Century and wrote about their experiences. She will recount their words and look at the paths they took from today’s perspective.
Dr. Poole is a fourth-generation Floridian.
Her research focuses on Florida’s environmental history and the activists who have helped preserve its natural beauty. Her earlier books include Saving Florida: Women's Fight for the Environment in the Twentieth Century.
Tracing Florida Landscapes: Explorers, Travelers, and Landscapes Then and Now is her 5th book.
Join us in the Camellia Room at Leu Gardens to enjoy this talk!
