At the turn of the 20th century, when Mexico was governed by Porfirio Diaz (1876-1911), everything European was in vogue, including historicist architecture. On this tour we will explore two iconic buildings built during this period: the Palacio de Bellas Artes (or Fine Arts Palace) and the Palacio Postal (Mexico's central Post Office), both of which are gems of historicist architecture in Mexico City that reference a variety of styles including NeoRenaissance, NeoGothic, and Art Deco architecture.
