In the first half of the twentieth century (1925-1950), two distinct ways of understanding modernity developed in Mexico. One can be encompassed in what is defined as Art Deco and the other embodied by Functionalist ideals. On this tour we will explore some examples of both tendencies in two different neighborhoods, Condesa and Cuauhtemoc, by well-known and lesser-known Mexican architects such as Luis Barragán and Francisco J. Serrano.
