Join the Seward Electric Department for our next Community Town Hall on Wednesday, May 28th at the KM Rae Building in Seward, Alaska.Doors will open at 5:00 PM, with the program beginning at 5:30 PM. Light food and refreshments will be provided.
During this Town Hall, the Electric Department will provide updates on current utility projects and take a deeper dive into the economic feasibility of the utility structure options discussed throughout our previous three Town Halls, including:
• Forming a Municipal Utility Authority
• Selling the utility to an existing Railbelt Cooperative
• Creating a locally owned Electric Cooperative
• Exploring a franchise model where a cooperative operates and maintains City-owned utility assets
This process is important to the future of Seward’s energy system, and we remain committed to maintaining an open, transparent, and community-driven conversation as we evaluate the opportunities ahead.
We hope you’ll join us, ask questions, share your thoughts, and continue helping shape Seward’s energy future.
