Celebrate the traditional lead miners' holiday:On 24th May we will be holding our first “T’Owd Man’s Grand Day Out” at Magpie Mine, rekindling the ancient tradition of the Lead Miners' Holiday, within a contemporary context. There will a whole host of activities throughout the day, more details of which we'll post within the discussion here, but these will include:
Dressing of the Stowes & traditional Miners' blessing
Guided site tours exploring the history of Magpie Mine
Guided site tours exploring the site's unique flora.
Mining displays from PDMHS, WMRG & GMPC
Display on the influence of Cornish Miners
Live music & dance from T'Owd Man Border Morris
Live Music from Cage of Crows
Workshops with a medicinal herbalist
Traditional games
Light refreshments
The event is open to the public, and free to attend. Parking is available on-site.
