This shuttle tour will share designs by renowned Sarasota architect Frank Folsom Smith, including:

U.S. Garage building (1924/1984)
Sarasota Alliance for Historic Preservation's Six to Save
The first parking structure built for automobiles in Sarasota during the height of the Florida land boom. In 1984, Frank Folsom Smith converted the building for office and retail use, retaining original materials and features; it now houses multiple small businesses.

This mid-century modern building in downtown Sarasota, was the first built project of Frank Folsom Smith after he opened his own architectural firm.
ABOUT THE ARCHITECT
Frank Folsom Smith was an influential member of the Sarasota School of Architecture and the lead architect for Sarasota’s landmark Plymouth Harbor retirement community. During his more than six-decade career, he designed homes, churches, commercial buildings, and communities here and throughout the country. He was a founding member of the Congress for the New Urbanism, and through his commitment to progressive urban design and development laid the foundation for today’s vibrant downtown.
