About this Event
Catalyst Cooperative is a worker-owned cooperative that scrapes, cleans and publishes free and open-source U.S. energy data through the Public Utility Data Liberation (PUDL) project.
This is the second installation of a year-long workshop & seminar series focused on helping early career energy systems researchers get more familiar with data management and software development. There's no cost to participants. This work has been supported by the Sloan Foundation.
This webinar will cover financial, electrical infrastructure, energy production, and emissions data at mostly annual and monthly granularities. We’ll go in depth on FERC Form 1, EIA 923, EIA 860/860M, and EPA CEMS. We’ll also talk about key differences between FERC, EIA, and EPA data. For each dataset, we’ll cover what information is in it, where to access it, key inconsistencies and data challenges, and some examples of research applications using the dataset.
This will take the format of several short presentations followed by Q&A.
