Learn about the impact of the Tougaloo Nine during a gallery talk and flash tour at the Two Mississippi Museums on Saturday, March 29! Civil-rights era photographer Jerry Keahey Sr. will speak about his experience working with and capturing iconic images of the Tougaloo Nine at 11 a.m. A flash tour about the Tougaloo Nine will take place at 2 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. The Tougaloo Nine was a group of nine undergraduate students at Tougaloo College, then named Tougaloo Southern Christian College, who staged sit-ins at the all-White Jackson Main Library in Jackson, Mississippi.
