Curious about real-time visuals, interactive media, or how sound and image can respond to each other? This TouchDesigner workshop offers a hands-on introduction to the software interface and operator basics. It is ideal for those working in the audio-visual field, multimedia artists, musicians, and anyone interested in expanding their creative toolkit into interactive and real-time media.
This short course focuses on navigating the TouchDesigner environment, understanding essential operator families, and exploring the basic ingredients of interactivity and real-time rendering.
You will learn how to:
• Navigate the TouchDesigner network interface
• Identify the key capabilities of each of the operator families
• Create, connect, and modify operators
• Use texture operators to modify images
• Use channel operators to control elements of a TouchDesigner network
• Create 3D rendered scenes
• Create interfaces and control panels
In line with International Women’s Day, the workshop will also include an introduction to women who pioneered the field of electronic music and sound art, including Daphne Oram, Delia Derbyshire, Suzanne Ciani, and Laurie Spiegel — artists whose experimental approaches to sound and technology continue to shape how we think about digital media today.
What to bring:
• Come with open-minded energy, curiosity, and excitement to learn something new — you might even discover fresh possibilities for your craft and creative ideas!
• Please bring your laptop (PC or MacBook) with the appropriate charger.
• The course will provide the software for FREE.
• If your laptop has a webcam, even better (totally optional, but helpful!).
• iPads or tablets won’t be useful for this course (not just yet!).
• And don’t forget your headphones 🎧 — we’ll definitely need them!
About the instructor:
Daniel Ruiz-Cecconello is a classical pianist and composer, as well as a video and film producer. His work blends classical minimalism with avant-garde experimental music, drawing inspiration from artists such as Steve Reich, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Philip Glass, and Arvo Pärt. He has performed in major cultural hubs including London, Berlin, Budapest, Antwerp, and Madrid.
In 2021, Daniel released his debut solo album, #Dimlight. He has collaborated with choreographers and dancers from the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Spain, and Belgium, contributing to a wide range of interdisciplinary projects.
Currently based in Southeast Asia, Daniel continues his artistic journey in search of new collaborations — including dancers, choreographers, poets, video DJs, traditional musicians, and other creative artists — to further explore the intersection of music, movement, and visual media.
