HIGHLAND FAVOURITES TORRIDON CELEBRATE 20 YEARS OF MUSICAL EXCELLENCE WITH NEW ALBUM AND “** CASK STRENGTH” TOUR!Torridon, the dynamic Highland-based band known for their electrifying stage presence and toe-tapping tunes, are thrilled to mark their 20th anniversary in the music industry this year. With a journey spanning two decades, Torridon has captivated audiences worldwide with their energetic performances and unforgettable music.
First joining forces in 2004, Founder Kenny Smith and pal Matthew Cameron embarked on a journey that would end up being beyond their wildest dreams. From a folky Two-piece, the band developed to a blistering 6 piece Folk Rock explosion from pubs in Inverness, to the biggest national stages, including Hampden Park itself.
From Italy to France and beyond, Torridon has left their mark on international stages, becoming fans favourites, particularly in the Highlands. Their infectious energy has made them regulars at prestigious festivals such as Belladrum, The Gathering, Tunes By The Dunes, and MacMoray, where they have consistently worked the crowds up into a frenzy, enjoyed by people of all ages.
Highlights of Torridon’s illustrious career include back-to-back MFR “Local Music Awards”, entertaining the Tartan Army all over the World, significantly on Hampden Park, Glasgow and opening Runrig’s famous “Beat The Drum” concert in Drumnadrochit. These milestones have paved the way for Torridon’s latest triumph – the release of their highly anticipated album, “Polaroid”, coinciding with their 20th anniversary celebration. Following the success of their 2019 album, “Break the Chains”, which garnered over a million streams for hit single “Highland Girl”, “Polaroid” promises to be another chart-topping sensation.
In a testament to their appeal, Torridon’s debut single from “Polaroid”, titled “I Wanna Know”, skyrocketed to the number one spot on the iTunes worldwide charts upon release, setting the stage for the band’s triumphant return.
The aptly titled “** CASK STRENGTH” tour is a testament to their fine ageing as Frontman Kenny Smith, enthused – “It’s hard to believe we have lasted 20 years, and in many ways we have aged like a whisky, raw, spicy and very sour to start with, ageing finely into a sweet, strong, explosion of taste, or sound in our case! We have a big year ahead, with many surprises and indeed special commemorative performances and merchandise to offer!”
