JUNKSPACE - Brooklyn Army Terminal Adaptation
Tori Lawrence + Co's JUNKSPACE is a site-adaptive dance and music performance. Past adaptations have been created in an abandoned factory in Philadelphia (PA), a stage in Northampton (MA), and a farmstead on Sweden's southern coast. This iteration will take place inside the historic Brooklyn Army Terminal. Choreographed by Tori Lawrence, the work features performers Ellie Goudie-Averill and Jungwoong Kim, alongside sound/installation designer Seth Wenger. The piece explores the relationship between architecture, environment, and the moving body, a dystopic slow build within modernization's fallout. The interdisciplinary nature of the work aims to bring a poetic awareness to our human-contaminated wrecked land and waterscapes. How to bathe within the precarity of our surroundings -- tuning in to the ever-shifting world.

A Day is a Minute
Scope Collective begins their portion of the evening with a WIP series of live scored, short film screenings. Over the course of the previous 10 months Scope has been taking an image a minute of the growing Gowanus ecosystem that is part of our exhibit CHANNEL. These microbial community images become timelapses, and alongside realtime videography they act on our perspectives of time and space. These Works In Progress are at the early stages of becoming cinematic events of their own, and we have invited a few of our friends to join us in presenting them to you. Three short films will be screened with live accompaniment by:
- Helen Betya Rubinstein - Dear Microbiome
- Joseph Brock - Solo Upright Bass
- Tapestry & Friends Vocal Sextet - Julie Thiry-Couvillon, Emma Apsel, Christopher Perry-Coon, Seth Wenger, Theo Swanson, Léonard Roussel
