Topaz Pilgrimage 2026

The Topaz Museum is happy to announce that the 2026 Topaz Pilgrimage will take place April 30-May 2!

This pilgrimage will pay tribute to the 11,212 people of Japanese descent who were incarcerated at the Topaz WWII American concentration camp, while offering attendees opportunities for remembrance and learning across generations, honoring the legacy of Topaz and the enduring histories of Japanese American communities in Salt Lake City and Utah.

On the evening of April 30 and all day on May 1 in Salt Lake City, we will offer intergenerational programming, including activities at the Salt Lake Buddhist Temple and walking tours of historic Japantown and other local interests. On Saturday May 2nd, bus transportation will take participants from Salt Lake City to Delta for a day trip to the Topaz Museum and the historic Topaz site.

Our 2026 pilgrimage will be honored with a visit by the Ireichō : Book of Names on its national tour. Due to the overwhelming interest in the Ireichō , Topaz Pilgrimage participants cannot be guaranteed an appointment to personally stamp it, but there will be an opportunity to convene as a group to honor the book at a ceremony on the Topaz site on Saturday May 2nd.

Info: The bus to Delta will board at 7:15am from the Salt Lake Buddhist Temple.

Info: Buses will leave Delta at 4:30pm, returning to the Salt Lake City Buddhist Temple at approximately 7:00pm. Dinner will not be provided.
