Two-day hands on, 'learnings by doing'. Lean Manufacturing Workshop - May 2026
About this Event

The Department of Natural Resources and Mines; Manufacturing; Regional and Rural Development will be hosting LEAN Manufacturing workshops facilitated by Vative
About this event:

Toowoomba Manufacturing Hub have Mike Morrow from Vative presenting a two-day Lean Manufacturing Workshop to be held in Toowoomba for Manufacturers in the South West region.

Many of the companies that have previously attended the workshops are now embracing a “Lean Transformation” program to grow, stabilise and sustain their business operation, so if your company has not been engaged, the time is now to start the journey.

Over a period of two days, this workshop highlights lean manufacturing and other related productivity improvement concepts, reinforced by the simulation of a series of manual processes (typically representing production or office processes) by using hands on and ‘learning by doing principles’

Several ‘Dummy Production Runs’ will be conducted in the workshop, with participants progressively improving each run by changing the simulation processes according to the Lean principles introduced between each run. Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) will be measured for each run, revealing quantitative improvements during the course of the Workshop.

The 2-Day Workshop will cover the following topics:

  • Waste reduction
  • Value stream mapping (VSM)
  • 5S workplace housekeeping and organisation
  • Teamwork
  • Set up reduction
  • Pull systems (kanban’s)
  • Visual performance measurement (VPM)
  • Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
  • Standard work
  • Focused improvement

These learnings can then be implemented within businesses to improve and streamline output.

This event is designed for 2-3 key personnel from each business, including the business owner, CFO and/or managers to attend the two-day workshop.
