Hey, friends! We’re testing a small neighborhood reuse pilot focused on tools and hardware—keeping useful items in circulation instead of letting them disappear into the waste stream.
If you have extras, you're invited to bring them (come say 'hey!'). We’ll collect what we can, sort them with volunteers, and route items into repair, sharing, or low-cost community use.
What we’re accepting:
-hand tools
-garden tools
-hardware & fasteners (screws, bolts, nails, hinges, etc.)
-small toolboxes
Not accepting (for this pilot):
-power tools
-batteries or anything battery-powered
-motors or motorized equipment
-large or bulky items
Please bring only items small enough to carry to the table.
We’ll be on site to triage what's accepted -- and we'll stop accepting items once collection bins are full: if you’re planning to contribute, please come early.
While you’re there, take some time to explore the Really Really Free Market—a monthly, no-money event where neighbors share what they no longer need and take what they can use. And, of course, come hungry for the goodness found on nearby Eat Street!
Location:
Whittier Park (weather permitting)
If weather is rough, we’ll be inside the Whittier Rec Center attached to Whittier Elementary.
Time:
Saturday, April 4 • 1–4 PM
Come by, bring something (or not), and see what’s possible when materials stay local.
Also, poster design credit to Whittier resident, Royce!
