Fiesta Rumbera plays Rumba Flamenca, the party version of flamenco, blending Spanish flair with Cuban rhythms (it's the style made famous by the Gipsy Kings).
Fiesta Rumbera is a Massachusetts-based group of talented musicians whose love and dedication to flamenco music has earned them wide acclaim from audiences at sold-out concerts. The ensemble is committed to performing Rumba Flamenca, a popular flamenco form for celebrations, with danceable rhythms developed in the 19th century when the Gitanos of Andalusia began to fuse flamenco with Cuban rhythms that invite you to move your body.
It is an art form that was born in then Guaracha. It is based on the folkloric music traditions of southern Spain, developed within the Gitano subculture of Andalusia, which diverged in the new world, then returned to Spain in a new form.
Members of the ensemble include: Tony Silva, Spanish guitar; Rudi Weeks, bass guitar; Chris Devine, flute & violin; and Michel Moushabeck, cajon and percussion.
