The Canberra Tolkien Fellowship will visit the National Library to view some Tolkien treasures in honour of Tolkien Reading Day (25 March). A number of old books related to Tolkien's life in Oxford and journals of 1970s Tolkien fan groups are some examples of items we will be able to look at. These have been requested in advance.2:00pm - We will start to gather in the National Library Foyer after popping our bags in the free lockers.
Exactly 2:15pm - We will meet a librarian who will take us to meeting rooms to have a look at the Tolkien related treasures. We won't have a lot of time, so perhaps you can find an interesting book or journal, take a photo of an interesting part / page or two that you would like to share with others.
3:15pm ish - we will retire for coffee and cake etc at the Bookplate Cafe with our Canberra Tolkien Fellowship friends. And reveal the interesting things we have found from our reading. Share photos or read or discuss / explain something we copied.
The cafe closes at 4pm but the library does not close till 5pm.
The library bookshop will still be open till 5pm too.
If you would like to come please send an RSVP email to [email protected] More details of the event will be sent to you. All Tolkien fans are welcome to join us!
