Passionate about women’s health? Join the Discovery Center on Tuesday, April 25, for a critical conversation about cervical cancer and the inequities that impede access to prevention and treatment in many parts of the world.
Tanjila Taskin, program officer, immunization at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, will be joined by renowned author Dr. Linda Eckert to discuss her groundbreaking book, Enough: Because We Can Stop Cervical Cancer.
Cervical cancer is nearly 100% preventable, yet it kills almost 350,000 women each year, according to Dr. Eckert. Across the globe, a severe lack of accessible screening and treatment programs, along with cultural, gender and political barriers, have combined to create devastating consequences.
Preventing cervical cancer deaths–including through the HPV vaccine–is an important part of the global health strategy at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. This event is open to everyone who is passionate about women’s health, including health care professionals, researchers, activists, and community members.
Together, let’s raise awareness, challenge the status quo, and work towards a world where cervical cancer is no longer a threat.
