Various artists come together at Godfrey Daniels to honor the life and songs of Todd Snider, a writer whose humor, honesty, and sharp storytelling left a lasting mark on Americana music. Inspired early on by artists like Jerry Jeff Walker and John Prine, Snider built a career rooted in connection, wit, and songs that thrived in intimate rooms like this one—where he performed in 2001 and 2002. Following his passing in November 2025, this benefit brings musicians to the stage to share Snider’s songs and personal reflections on how his work shaped their own musical paths. Join us in the Live Music Listening Room for a night of remembrance, community, and music that belongs up close.

Oregon native Todd Snider knew what he wanted to do with his life when, barely out of his teens, he saw Jerry Jeff Walker perform at Gruene Hall in Texas. Snider began writing songs the next day. In 2004, Snider told Lone Star Music Magazine: "I didn't even know how to really play guitar yet, but I saw his show and went and got one."Walker, John Prine, Jimmy Buffett, Guy Clark and other icons of the emerging Americana scene - which Snider jokingly dubbed “unsuccessful country music” - became his mentors. With a blend of self-deprecating and insightful storytelling, witty lyrics, great chops - whether playing with a band or, more often, solo - an infectious smile, bare feet and a flower-festooned hat, Snider captured the hearts of audiences in intimate venues across the country, including Godfrey Daniels in 2001 and 2002.Snider passed away on November 14, 2025, at the beginning of a tour that was to be his swan song on the road and on the tail of the release of his last, and many say prophetic, album: “High, Lonesome and Then Some.
”Join us at this benefit for Godfrey Daniels as various artists take the stage to celebrate Todd Snider’s songs and share stories about how he influenced their own musical journeys.
