After a five-year hiatus, wine enthusiasts and adventure seekers can once again embark on a scenic journey through the stunning Carson River Canyon. The first Toast of the Canyon Train Ride will run on Saturday, August 17, followed by the second on Saturday, September 21.Passengers will embark on a 45-minute round trip from Carson City’s Eastgate Depot, featuring specially prepared appetizers and a selection of refreshing white wines, all while taking in breathtaking views of the river canyon.
Event Highlights Include:
- Scenic Ride: Travel two-and-a-half miles of newly laid track, showcasing historic locations, including Comstock stamp and reduction mills, as well as timber processing mills.
- Noteworthy Mills: View historic sites such as the Santiago, Vivian, Merrimac, Brunswick, and Morgan Mills along the route, in addition to the iconic Eureka Mill.
- Unique Encounters: Capture memorable moments as the “Iron Horse” steams past, reconnecting to the train and "High Balling" it back up the canyon, with the steam train whistle echoing off the canyon walls.
