TKU Leadership School - Crew Leader School

This event will give current and up and coming ACL’s (and current CL’s who would like a refresher) a chance to learn and practice new skills

• TKO volunteers who are working towards becoming Assistant Crew Leaders and;
• Current ACLs desiring to move from ACL into a full Crew Leader role and;
• Staff and partners who are interested in crew leadership training opportunities

This event features sessions on:

• TKO’s leadership culture about safety, inclusiveness and the quality of stewardship for the volunteer experience and the trails we tend to. 
• How we build and maintain relationships with other stewardship partners
• Overview of the project planning process
• Event planning, coordination and management 
• How to facilitate and steward the volunteer experience
• Working with a diverse array of volunteers
• Crew Leader commitments 

What to bring:

• Sturdy boots – please bring sturdy boots that will protect your toes from sharp tools. For safety reasons, we cannot allow tennis shoes, sandals etc. during the trail work sessions. 
• Long sleeved shirt and work pants – wear what you won’t mind getting dirty in
• Rain gear and warm layers as needed for the weather.
• Work gloves – we will have loaner pairs available
• Water bottle – 2L minimum highly recommended
• A lunch and snacks for the day
• Daypack – for carrying all of the above

This class is designed to be an on-trail, experience based training. Please come prepared to participate in thoughtful and challenging discussions, learn new leadership skills, and, of course, do some trail work!

COVID-19 Procedures **Please follow all civil authority restrictions for your community. **

In accordance with civil authority restrictions and land manager requirements for safety considerations, the following policies are currently in place:

• All volunteers will watch in the TKO COVID-19 Safety Lab, a broad safety orientation of TKO Safety Policy & Procedures for a COVID-19 Environment. Link will be provided in your registration confirmation.

• All volunteers must administer a health self-evaluation prior to attending in-person volunteer events (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/symptoms-testing/symptoms.html).

• All volunteers will read and sign the TKO Volunteer Waiver updated for COVID-19 for release and indemnity of TKO and the land manager partner. Link will be provided in your registration confirmation.

• Volunteers must bring their own gloves, cloth masks, and hand sanitizer.

• Tools will be sanitized prior to the event, and will not be shared throughout the day.

• No carpools will be arranged by TKO for the time being.
