Come Dancing!
Titirangi Folk Club winter ceilidh featuring Reel to Reel ceilidh band comprised of Linda Whitcome (fiddle), Jean Reid (guitar) and Ian Bartlet (box and bodhran) are joined by the world famous in Titirangi dance caller Noel Armstrong.
Are you coming to the Ceilidh? If you have never come to a Ceilidh,
here is why you will want to come!
Ceilidh (pronounced kay-lee) is a Gaelic word meaning gathering, and are
so much fun for everybody!
You come to dance in groups with your
friends and family and strangers yet to become friends. In some dances
you keep the same dance partner, in other dances you change partners
with every new set of steps. Don’t worry about not having done it
before: all dances have a ‘caller’ who demonstrates the steps before the
dance begins, and then calls out the steps as the dance is happening.
There will be fine local musicians playing high energy Scottish and
Irish tunes for all the dances. Supper will be provided at the
mid-point though, so you can catch your breath and chat with friends.
This event is on Saturday 20 June from 8pm at the Titirangi Beach Hall,
(bottom of Titirangi Beach Road) and has a $15 door charge. It’s
organised by the Titirangi Folk Music Club to help celebrate its musical
contribution to the cultural life of West Auckland for the past 60
years.
A warm welcome awaits you when you come to enjoy this fun-filled evening
with us.
