Family Workshops at the Library: Tiny Treasures: A Polymer Keychain Lab with SHG’s Youth Committee

Discover the art of miniatures in this fun polymer clay keychain workshop! Led by SHG’s Youth Committee members, participants will explore hands-on sculpting techniques to create their own tiny wearable artworks. Inspired by favorite summer fruits, traditional snacks, and refreshing drinks, each keychain becomes a small celebration of cultural memory and imagination. This hands-on workshop is for all ages and experience levels. All materials will be provided. Walk-ins welcome.
ABOUT THE TEACHING ARTISTS:
The Self Help Graphics Youth Committee is made up of a collective of youth ages 15-20 living in East Los Angeles. They support SHG’s youth-led programs and events, uplifting issues important to young people in the community. Members have access to enriching opportunities, such as gaining art-making skills with visiting artists. Through these experiences, they develop leadership skills and learn how the arts play a role in storytelling, advocacy, civic engagement, and more, connecting and collaborating with like-minded peers. This is a paid 9 month opportunity, from September to early June.

ABOUT SHG’S PROGRAM “FAMILY WORKSHOPS AT THE LIBRARY”:
Self Help Graphics & Art’s monthly free Family Workshops are held at the East Los Angeles Library every second Saturday of the month in the Community Room. Limited public parking is available. The East Los Angeles County Library is located at 4837 E 3rd St, Los Angeles, CA 90022, directly across from the Metro E Line East LA Civic Center Station, at the intersection of 3rd Street and Mednik Avenue.
