About this Event
Enter Trinity’s smallest candlelit chapel to lose yourself in the music that fueled Johann Sebastian Bach’s genius.
In the hushed intimacy of The Chapel of All Saints, Trinity organist Avi Stein will transport audiences to the sound-world from which Johann Sebastian Bach sprang forth. As a member of a distinguished family of composers and instrumentalists, Bach was keenly aware of his place in the musical lineage, and his vast collection of manuscripts — by relatives, predecessors, and contemporaries — reveals that wide repertoire of inspiration.
Leading from the chapel’s handcrafted pipe organ built principally to present music of the period, Stein, along with soprano soloist Elisse Albian and musicians from the Trinity Baroque Orchestra, will perform intensely passionate pieces from two of Bach’s influential 17th century predecessors: Dieterich Buxtehude (Trio Sonata in A Minor and Herr, wenn ich nur Dich hab) and Christoph Bernhard (Aus der Tieffen).
Registration for this free event is highly recommended as seating is limited.
We suggest arriving 30 minutes before start time. Admission is first-come, first-served, with ticket holders receiving priority (although not guaranteed entrance if the venue reaches capacity).
