About this Event
OPENING on Saturday from 16:00h
27 June – 6 July 2025
Michelle Blancke, Rianne Tegelaar, and Tineke van der Pouw Kraan studied together at the Fotoacademie. Their work complements each other, with images reflecting their sense of wonder, curiosity, intimacy, and connection to nature.
Tineke reveals the hidden world of fungi and bacteria that coexist in the soil with plant and tree roots. These underground microorganisms exchange nutrients with the roots, forming a diverse ecosystem that sustains the entire plant world—much like the microorganisms in our gut: invisible yet essential. She cultivates these microorganisms to amplify them and captures the abundant biodiversity and delicate structures of soil life, merging them with the macro world of plants.
Rianne focuses on the fluidity of time and the boundary between memory and reality. In her work, fixed structures fade: what disappears lingers somewhere; what dissolves returns in a new form. Time is not a straight line but a continuous movement where moments flow into each other. Through a play of light, reflection, and layering, she creates images where reality and imagination merge. Water, mist, and reflections shape contours, only to dissolve them again. The human presence is subtle, like a trace that continues to resonate. Her work evokes a sense of stillness, a liminal space where past and present converge, and nothing ever truly disappears.
Michelle captures the mystique of nature. Her Secret Garden series unveils a world that unfolds across different dimensions—living landscapes, structures that seem to emit light, cosmic matter holding energy. Together, they form a meditation on the visible and invisible, on nature’s subtle forces. Her images act as portals, inviting the viewer into a space of constant transformation, where reality is layered.
