We will reveal the contents of a time capsule buried in front of Parma City Hall 50 years ago during Mayor John Petruska's administration. In 1976, when the capsule was lowered into the ground, Parma was marking its 50th golden anniversary, and our nation was celebrating its bicentennial. Former Proud of Parma, Union Carbide and a local Boy Scout Troop worked with the city on that project. Parma Area Historical Society will have a display in City Hall's lobby with details about the capsule burial and photos of that historical day.Free parking will be available at the City Hall lot. Spectators should gather on the front lawn and public sidewalk.
After the time capsule reveal, walk over to the Cuyahoga County Public Library Parma-Powers Branch for the Flamingo Fling from 2 to 4 p.m. for fun family activities. Note: On Wednesday, June 3, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., the branch is hosting a Build Your Own Time Capsule workshop: https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=1316589297233103&set=a.584171613808212
