Tijuana Cartel hit Shoal Bay for the first time this April, bringing their hypnotic fusion of electronica, flamenco guitar, Middle Eastern grooves and soaring trumpet lines to the coast for one special night. Fresh off years of festival stages in Australia and abroad, the Byron Bay crew roll in with new tunes from an upcoming release, alongside the crowd favourites that have made them a longtime live favourite.Driven by guitarist Paul George and producer/keyboardist Carey O’Sullivan, with Sheila Finke on percussion and Tristan Rogers on trumpet, Tijuana Cartel’s sound moves through melodic tech, organic house, broken beat and rolling global rhythms, all layered into an immersive live show with custom animated visuals. Big stage energy, deep grooves, and plenty of moments to get properly lost in.
Setting the tone is SHEJ, known for subtle, hypnotic sets that favour atmosphere, quirky percussion focused ethnic house, and slow-building intensity over flash. SHEJ crafts warm, spacious journeys built for the long arc of the dancefloor.
