A piano virtuoso with a powerful groove, Tigran Hamasyan is considered one of the most remarkable and distinctive jazz-meets-rock pianists/composers of his generation, seamlessly fusing improvisation and progressive rock with the rich folkloric music of his native Armenia. For this performance, Hamasyan is joined by his bandmates to celebrate their most recent release.Hamasyan has won numerous awards, including first place in both the 2003 Montreux Jazz Festival Solo Piano Competition and the 2005 Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz International Piano Competition. In addition to many accolades and critical acclaim, Hamasyan has built a dedicated following worldwide, garnering high praise from Herbie Hancock, Brad Mehldau, and the late Chick Corea.
