Presented in joyful partnership with the Waterloo Region Friends of Palestine and the IRL Festival. An evening celebrating culture, resistance, and solidarity, Ties that Bind: Ireland and Palestine brings people together through dance, poetry, music, and community connection. Rooted in shared histories of resilience, this event affirms that joy and artistic expression have long been powerful forms of resistance—ways of building hope, sustaining spirit, and imagining a more just future, even in the hardest of times.
The evening will feature participatory dance (with the option to join in or simply watch and enjoy), poetry, and live music by local artists of both cultures, creating a space that is welcoming, reflective, and energizing. Whether you move, listen, or gather in quiet solidarity, each form of participation is valued.
All proceeds from the event will go directly to support the people of Gaza via the International Development and Relief Foundation (https://idrf.ca/appeal/palestine/). Attendees will also have the opportunity to purchase Zatoun Palestinian olive oil and event merchandise, with all sales contributing to fundraising efforts.
This is a Pay What You Can (PWYC) event—your ticket price is whatever you are able to donate. Accessibility, care, and collective responsibility are central to the evening, ensuring that everyone who wishes to attend can do so. Tickets can be purchased at the door, depending on availability. Doors will open at 6:30 pm.
Come as you are, bring your heart, and join us for a night that honours culture not only as expression, but as resistance, hope, and connection. All ages and all nations welcome!
