📣📣Calling all lindy hoppers, balboa-heads, charleston nuts, and shag enthusiasts! Portland's longest-running swing dance is back in action as a weekly dance at Norse Hall, bringing you fantastic live jazz music on a magnificent floor. Donning vintage attire and hairstyles, the Newport Nightingales endeavor to take you back to a time when life was simple and the music was hot. Influenced heavily by the Andrews Sisters, the Boswell Sisters, and even the Mills Brothers, the girls couldn't sit by and let these sweet melodies become lost to the ages. The Nightingales sing tunes in 3-part harmony, mainly from the 1930s and 1940s, including Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Jeepers Creepers, Heebie Jeebies, and more!

*Friendly reminder: non-marking shoes only when dancing (i.e. no rubber soles, outdoor shoes, tap shoes, etc.) Scuffs, scratches, and marks can lead to damage of the dance floor.

6:45 - 7:45 Swing Foundations Lesson w/Sam + Partner
*Doors to lessons will be closed at 7PM. Dancers will not be admitted to lesson after this time but are welcome to wait in the downstairs lounge area.

9 - 9:30 Set Break/DJ
9:30 - 10:30 The Newport Nightingales
The downstairs bar and lounge will be open. You may bring your drinks upstairs to the ballroom.
