On Thursday, November 20th from 7-10pm at Alberta Street Pub, an incredible group of Portland singer/songwriters will transport you back to a time when coffeehouse culture was king and the internet was tethered to the wall. The Fresh Prince was maxing and relaxing all cool, Jenny McCarthy was singling people out, Cher was making a cameo at the val party, and “those damn Dawson’s River kids were sleeping in each other’s beds” (bonus points if you get that last double-90s reference). Our most pressing decision was whether to have a Surge or a Frutopia with lunch. Everyone smelled of Gap Dream and CK One.
But the music was really what enabled the 90s to leave an indelible mark. Those of us who lived through it remember. Now, new generations are discovering just how fly it all was.
In an attempt to recapture the magic, these fabulous performers will render fully acoustic versions of some of your favorite 90s songs. I mean, c’mon, this lineup is da bomb!
