About this Event
Join us for a special Thursday meeting as we gather in the spirit of community to address one of our most impactful causes: feeding the hungry in Alameda County. For over a decade, the Rotary Club of Oakland has dedicated one December meeting to raising awareness and support for food security in our area. This year, we’re honored to host Bernard Boudreaux, a long-time advocate and Board Member of the Alameda County Community Food Bank (ACCFB), as our guest speaker.
About Our Speaker: Bernard Boudreaux
With over 20 years of volunteer and leadership experience, Bernard’s commitment to alleviating food insecurity is unmatched. As a dedicated member of the “ACCFB Tuesday Crew,” he spends each month sorting and packing food for families in need. His work extends beyond Alameda, having collaborated with nearly 100 food banks nationwide to amplify their reach. A proud Oakland resident of 25 years, Bernard brings his dedication home, fostering connections and solutions within our community. Bernard also sits on the Board of Trustees for SF Jazz and serves as an Advisor to the East Bay Community Foundation, leveraging his background in consulting and corporate leadership to make an impact.
Raising Money for a Cause
After Bernard’s talk, we’ll get support from our members. Led by Rotary member Lorna Padia Markus, Lorna will be asking for pledges starting high and going low, with all contributions going to local food security organizations, including Operation Dignity, Harbor House, St. Mary’s Center, Oakland Catholic Worker, and St. Vincent de Paul. Last year, your generosity raised over $50,000, feeding thousands of people in need.
Make an Impact: Attend & Donate
