Catherine McCrystal is a musician from County Derry who now lives just across the border in Newry. She'll be making her debut in the Backroom of the Spirit Store on Thursday 16th October, with support sets from the fantastic Sean Fee and Nicolas Puyane.
Catherine will showcase her own songs on the night; expect introspective lyrics laced with melancholy, and the occasional detour into whimsy. Common themes include wrestling with identity and self-acceptance, the push and pull of life’s polarities, and music’s ability to heal and empower.
Powerful emotions take centre stage in songs influenced by country-folk sensibilities, and Catherine’s voice—an instrument equal parts soul and grit—soars above stripped back guitar work that provides a sturdy frame for the journey.
