Topics we'll cover:
- How to apply gold leaf to a variety of surfaces
- Techniques for working with metallic paints and shimmering finishes
- How to use glitter in a refined and intentional way within fine art
- Surface preparation, adhesive application, sealing, and layering methods
- How to combine texture, color, and reflective materials into a finished composition
If you've been lookin to develop your own personal style using decorative mixed media elements, this class is for you!
Drawing skills not required. All skill levels welcome. Still new to painting? No problem! Effie will share easy to follow steps.
Students will walk away with a beautiful painting (or two!) and techniques that can be applied to future paintings and mixed media projects.
Supply List for Students to Bring:
This is a studio class and students will be using their supplies on the first week.
- 1-2 canvases or panels, small to medium sizes
- a few 8x8 or 8x10 scrap / paint-over panels or canvases to practice during our lessons
- gold leaf, any color
- leaf adhesive (sizing)
- soft brushes for leaf application (watercolor or makeup kind)
- 1-2 metallic acrylic colors
- gel mediums or any other texture mediums
- Sealers and/or finishing varnish
- palette paper
- palette knife
- various acrylic paints
- various acrylic brushes
- quality paper towels like Viva or Blue Shop
