About this Event
Rejoignez-nous pour un après-midi intimiste consacré à des courts métrages sélectionnés par l’artiste multidisciplinaire haudenosaunee Iako’tsi:rareh Amanda Lickers et mettant de l’avant des œuvres de cinéastes autochtones de la région. Cet événement aura lieu à la Maison Shaughnessy, ancienne demeure des magnats du chemin de fer du Canadien Pacifique, de la fin du XIXe et du début du XXe siècle. Nous vous invitons à une pause collective accompagnée de thé et de rafraîchissements, tout en remettant en question l’héritage colonial de ce site patrimonial soigneusement restauré, et qu’ensemble, nous animions l’architecture Second Empire avec des thèmes de résistance autochtone, de refus et de renouveau à travers la souveraineté narrative.
Cet événement est organisé dans le cadre de l’exposition Everlasting et sera présenté en anglais.

Join us for an intimate afternoon of cinema shorts featuring the diverse works of regional Indigenous filmmakers curated by multidisciplinary Haudenosaunee artist Iako’tsi:rareh Amanda Lickers in the atmosphere of the Shaughnessy House, former home to Canadian Pacific Rail barons of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This afternoon invites you to be a part of the re-Storying of Shaughnessy House through a lens of placekeeping: lounging in the living area as the atmosphere warms with hot tea, igniting connections and conversation amidst light refreshments between screenings. Summoning you for a collective pause while subverting the colonial legacy’s of this well-restored heritage site, while together we animate the Second Empire architecture with themes of Indigenous resistance, refusal, and reawakening through narrative sovereignty.
This event is organized in conjunction with the exhibition Everlasting and will be presented in English.
